What is Episode 8 Called and What Does the Title Mean?
The finale is called “In God We Trust.”
Speaking on Good Morning America, Sydney Sweeney revealed that the season is thematically tied to religion, saying, “The only thing I can say is it’s about God. People are going to find God. Some people are going to need God.” An episode called “In God We Trust” landing as the season closer suddenly feels very deliberate.
The title fits directly into where the season has been going all along. Throughout Season 3, Rue has been pushed to a point where survival and faith are colliding. That the finale carries this title is not accidental.
What Happened in Episode 7 That Sets Up the Finale?
If you have not watched Episode 7 yet, there are spoilers ahead.
Euphoria Season 3 Episode 7 pushed nearly every major character toward a breaking point. Rue’s burning bush vision gave her a dangerous sense of divine purpose, but her attempted robbery with Faye ended in disaster when the safe held IDs instead of money. Meanwhile, Nate’s shallow-grave nightmare ended with a rattlesnake bite, leaving Cassie a widow.
The cliffhanger is brutal. Faye accuses Rue of lying to her, and while Rue explains that Faye knows her and can trust her, it is too late. “Waaaaayne,” Faye screams, presumably waking her Nazi boyfriend up, kicking viewers into the final episode of the season.
Wayne laid out what he wants to do to Rue: put her down like a dog.
So heading into Episode 8, the situation is:
- Rue is in immediate physical danger from Wayne, with no money from the failed robbery
- Cassie is now a widow after Nate’s death by rattlesnake bite
- Maddy is shattered by everything she has witnessed
- The DEA is closing in on both Laurie and Alamo
- Faye has potentially just signed Rue’s death warrant
What Can We Expect From the Finale?
The finale of Euphoria Season 3 will focus on Rue trying to survive and leave Alamo’s dangerous world. She has already started reading the Holy Bible, meaning she is willing to change for good. Thanks to Ali, who motivated Rue and told her not to get involved in drugs and addiction.
Rue may face Laurie’s wrath after the failed robbery. The finale may force her to learn whether faith is a rescue rope or just another story she tells herself to walk into danger. Episode 8 may show whether Faye tries to repair the damage or saves herself first.
For Cassie and Maddy: Maddy and Cassie will break down after everything they have endured, including Nate’s horrifying death. Now there is no clear path in front of them and even Maddy seems to be shattered by everything that has happened lately.
What the finale needs to resolve:
- Whether Rue escapes Wayne alive
- What the DEA operation actually produces
- Where Cassie goes after Nate’s death
- Whether Faye faces consequences for her betrayal
- What happens to Maddy’s arc with Alamo
Who is in the Cast for Season 3 Episode 8?
Euphoria Season 3 stars Zendaya, Eric Dane, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney.
Why is Eric Dane’s Role in the Finale So Significant?
Eric Dane died on February 19, 2026, at 53 years old, because of complications tied to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) . The condition is a kind of neurodegenerative disease, which he went on to reveal publicly in 2025. Even with that diagnosis in hand, Dane still kept working and, he actually finished filming for Season 3 before he died.
HBO shared a tribute to Dane on February 19 on their Instagram page: “We are deeply saddened by the news of Eric Dane’s passing. He was incredibly talented and HBO was fortunate to have worked with him on three seasons of Euphoria.”
The premiere episode also features tributes to late series stars Angus Cloud and Eric Dane, as well as executive producer Kevin Turen. Cloud, who played drug dealer Fezco in Seasons 1 and 2, died of a drug overdose in 2023. Turen died on November 12, 2023, from a cardiac emergency while driving.
His presence in the finale, whatever form it takes, will carry a weight that goes beyond the screen.
How Has Season 3 Performed Overall?
When the show finally returned to HBO on April 12, viewers showed up in numbers that answered the question of whether anyone still cared: 8.5 million U.S. viewers in the first three days, according to Nielsen and Warner Bros. Discovery data. That is a 44% increase over the Season 2 premiere and the best opening in the show’s history.
To date, the Season 3 premiere has jumped from its initial three-day tally of 8.5 million to more than 12.3 million viewers in the U.S. The global total has surpassed 20 million viewers, a 68% improvement on the global viewership reached by the Season 2 premiere in the same amount of time.
On TikTok, #Euphoria tallied 63 million views, becoming the No. 2 most-viewed hashtag across movies and TV in the U.S.
HBO says it is now one of the most-watched series in the network’s entire history.
Is Season 3 the Last Season of Euphoria?
Zendaya was widely praised, and both the creator and actress suggested Season 3 will be the final season. There has been no official confirmation from HBO, but the signals from everyone involved point in that direction. A 93-minute finale titled “In God We Trust” feels like a show closing a chapter rather than setting up another one.
